order of lists generated by tagged function

Postby awnathan » Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:27 am

the lists generated by the tagged function are not being sorted in alphabetical order as I remember them being. Is this related to the 1.8 release (which I'm using)?

Hello,

Yes, the sorting alphabetically does seem have disappeared from the code. I will reintroduce this as they are currently sorted in an arbitrary order (well the order from which they are retrieved from the database!)

Thanks for pointing this out.

what would be interesting to have would be a global modality in which to determine how the sorting is done of any page list (recents, tagged,...), in terms of ascending/descending for:
. creation date
. modification date
. custom date
. name
. number of times accessed
. date last accessed
. …

kristian

(i have mentioned this in another post in the general discussion referring to being able to sort the recent pages on the home page by the creation date which i can set to embrace a diary keeping requirement)

Perhaps a parameter to the function:
{{action ^recipe sort+alpha}}
{{tagged followup,work sort-created}}

- where the 'sort' is a token to indicate changing the default sort order
- the symbol (+ or -) indicate assending or descending
- alpha, created, modified, etc. would indicate how to sort

Some cool ideas here.

I have to admit though that I am currently concentrating more on the aesthetics of Trunk Notes to try and increase its appeal. That alongside a new website, and some marketing (I have been very lazy when it comes to this so far!) should hopefully encourage Trunk Notes to become a little more popular!

As an aside one thing which would be really useful is some kind of plugin system. Apple's rules state that you can't use interpreted languages which are not already provided on the device. However some kind of JavaScript interpreter plugin system might be a possibility. Just an idea at the moment though!

Scripting, that's a big thought. If you haven't heard of it, take a look at TiddlyWiki

http://www.tiddlywiki.com/

It is a standalone wiki (no server required), based on javascript. It supports plugins, something like what you are talking about.

Keep up the good work
